Located in the heart of West Village, New York, 2nd City Restaurant celebrates the warming and hospitable demeanor of the Filipino culture. This laid-back taqueria-style bar and restaurant was designed to be a lively community gathering place with widespread appeal. The unique and energetic culture is visually represented through bright colors, distinctive textures, and exciting patterns.

The chef, Jordan Andino, named this Filipino Taqeria after Cebu City, the first capital and second largest city of the Philippines, where his mother, a model, actress, and Pop artist, grew up. Maximizing space was the greatest challenge in the extremely narrow building, and the only group table nests in the bay window extension. Across the mural wall, which was decorated by the chef’s mother and uncle, is a fully loaded serving bar, clad with steel plates that creep up the wall and across the room to create an understated feature piece that compliments the industrial yet vibrant aesthetic and provides the bulk of casual seating for the restaurant’s regular patrons.
