14.8 Acre Residential Estate outside Philadelphia. The original farm house was built in the 1860’s and additions were added in the 1930’s and 1950’s. Our goal for this project was to create an authentic quality to the architecture joining the 19th and 20th century buildings together in a manner that kept the historic nature intact. This included renovation of the main house, cellar, barn, artists studio, potting barn, pool and pool shed and extensive landscaping, hardscaping and refurbishments of the grounds. The main house entry remained in place, yet the primary living areas were reconfigured and the entry renovated to accommodate a gracefully elliptical shaped stair. The Master suite, kitchen and family room were expanded defining a new walled outdoor living space anchored by a stone clad fireplace. The Okie inspired stylings are evident in the detailing of the beamed pent roofs and framed archways at the sunroom. AS Okie did with his houses, we sought to merge the new and old in an authentic hand crafted aesthetic that seamlessly fits into a holistic composition.
