The existing upscale Italian restaurant interior was fashioned
after an art gallery where the owner could display his collection.
The new chef brought TA in to reevaluate the seating and guest
experience around the space while working within the existing
constraints to create a more authentic Italian steakhouse dining
experience. The theme would be to express the interior as an
old, Italian factory building that had been added to over time,
with a juxtaposition of masonry walls and exposed beams that
would define the various dining room spaces and bring the scale
of the room down to a more intimate setting. The existing wood
clad roof decking supported by large steel trusses was to be
sandblasted to remove the years of paint and blocked skylights
re-opened to wash the room with layers of daylight. Elegant
custom light fixtures twinned along the spine of the new central
banquette seating are used to bring down the scale of the space
and visually connect to other custom luminaries hung over the
reimagined bar area.
