1820 Rittenhouse

A community board was looking for design ideas to modernize and refresh the lower
facade and entry space of their condo building. The goal was to provide multiple
options with varying degrees of cost, while maintaining the existing structure and limit
potential disruptions to the tenants during renovations. Thoughtful consideration of the
surrounding neighborhood’s historic and cultural fabric was vital to the success of these studies. Multiple material palettes were considered to find the right balance between contemporary aesthetics and the existing historical context. Incorporating green
elements into the front courtyard created a sense of openness and connection to the
vibrant Rittenhouse Square across the street.
